Recap: 3th Edition of “Conversas na Rua” in Amadora

Organized by Amadora City Council “Conversas na Rua” is an urban art initiative that seeks to overcome the negative stigma often associated with the city, as well as to incite expression through the transformation of the urban landscape, to promote the Portuguese artists – emergent or veterans, to establish contact with the community and to enhance the artistic, historical, social and cultural identity heritage of Amadora.

Public Art Gallery of Quinta do Mocho (Part 1)

Alegria del Prado

Loures City Hall (in Lisbon) has been affirming itself in recent years as a national and international reference concerning street art or as some will call it public art. One of the examples of this investment in street art projects is Quinta do Mocho, a social housing quarter in Loures.

Currently, Quinta do Mocho is not just a social neighborhood: now its buildings are canvas for Public Art. Since October 2014, Quinta do Mocho became a Public Art Gallery, and we can count over 64 murals executed in the neighborhood.

On average, between 1,500 to 2,000 liters of paint and 40 to 50 cans of spray are used to paint the murals and the artists take up to 2-4 days to complete the paintings.

Until now the artist who took more time executing a mural was the artist Utopia, who painted for a week, from nine in the morning to eight in the evening. You can check out his work below.

Guided visits to this public art gallery are often held, you just need to show up in Casa da Cultura de Sacavém at 10AM on the last Saturday of each month.

You can check out some of the murals done in the neighborhood until October 2017, below.

Recap: Tamara Alves Solo Exhibition “It´s a Pleasure To Burn” at Art Room Lisbon

It opened on the 28th of September 2017 at the Art Room in Lisbon , Tamara Alves Solo Exhibition “It´s a Pleasure To Burn” has been a success since day 1. The exhibition should be opened to the public until the 10th of October but the date of closure was extended until Saturday the 14th due to the public’s adhesion.

This exhibition is inspired by Ray Bradbury, and his masterpiece Fahrenheit 451 “It was a pleasure to burn”.
” The series of images presented in this exhibition are poetic, rebellious, exuberant, intense and sensual just like fire.
Fire consumes us and destroys us, burns us and manages to transform our inner being into something charming, warm and enveloped in eroticism and passion. We are fire.” (Source: Here)

You can still check out Tamara’s work at the Art Room until Saturday, the 14th of October from 2Pm to 7PM or you can check out some snaps we took from the exhibition, on this post.

Freshly Painted Train Station Tunnel in Algés

Just before the 2017 edition of the NOS Alive Music Festival, the Algés train station tunnel suffered a renovation.  The CMOeiras, CP – Comboios de Portugal and IP-Infraestruturas de Portugal proposed a challenge to the artists 2Upla, Nomen, Jorge Cordeiro, Pedro Esteves and counted with the participation of about 13 other graffiti writers, to change the face of this location.

It was a project of approximately 1,2 km2, divided in zones and executed during 10 consecutive days. The themes around this project emerged from the concept of mobility, “Mobility Factory” and from the importance of the Algés riverside walkway as one of the biggest concert stages located at the riverfront of Lisbon.

Below you can find photos of the final result.
