Good news for the urban art lovers, the Museum of Urban and Contemporary Art of Cascais will open to the public in the spring of 2018. This new museum is a result of a partnership between Cascais Municipality and the urban artist Vhils – Alexandre Farto and financed from public and private sources.
It will be a dynamic and innovative museum located in the Museum Quarter in Cascais, near the marina, focused on promoting contact between the general public and the work of visual artists behind the global contemporary urban art movement, celebrating an unique creative energy that breathes new life into our cities and redefines our perception and enjoyment of art.
The biggest names in the contemporary art scene namely Vhils, Banksy, Shepard Fairey (Obey Giant) or the french JR will be represented in the permanent collection of the museum.
It is one of the few museums in the world exclusively dedicated to the understanding and appreciation of this multidisciplinary art.
